Texas Tech lands $28.9 million USDA grant for food-science complex
Texas Tech announced Thursday that its Davis College received a $28.9 million federal grant for a Food Science, Safety and Workforce Development Complex in a planned three-story flagship building on 15th Street. The facility is intended to support food-safety research, pilot-scale processing, industry collaboration and student training. Groundbreaking is anticipated in the 2026–27 academic year. Police request tips in Broadway assault and robbery
Lubbock police issued a public appeal Thursday in an investigation into a September 18 robbery in the 2400 block of Broadway Avenue. Investigators say two suspects fled. Anton ISD opens school food pantry
Anton ISD now has a school-based food pantry through South Plains Food Bank. School counselor Alicia Ball said teachers had been purchasing food for students.
