Corrections Policy

Effective Date: September 27, 2026

Lubbock Chronicle is committed to accuracy, fairness, and transparency. When we make an error, we aim to correct it promptly and clearly.

How Corrections Are Handled:
If a published story contains a factual error, we will correct the information as soon as reasonably practical after the error is confirmed. Corrections may include updating the article, clarifying language, fixing names, dates, figures, locations, links, quotations, or other factual details. When a correction materially changes the meaning or accuracy of a story, we may add a correction or update note explaining what was changed.

Clarifications:
A clarification may be added when the original information was technically accurate but could reasonably be misunderstood or lacked important context.

Updates:
News stories may be updated as new information becomes available. Routine updates, such as adding newly released details or event results, may not require a correction notice when the earlier version was accurate when it was published.

Requests for Corrections:
Readers, sources, businesses, public agencies, and other affected parties may request a review of published material. Please include:

  • The story or page involved

  • The specific information you believe is incorrect

  • The correct information

  • Any supporting documentation or source material

Send correction requests to: [email protected]

Review Process:
Lubbock Chronicle will review correction requests using available records, source material, interviews, public documents, and other relevant information. A request for a correction does not guarantee that a change will be made. Differences of opinion, interpretation, or emphasis are not necessarily factual errors.

Removal Requests:
As a general rule, Lubbock Chronicle does not remove accurate published news solely because the information later becomes inconvenient or unwanted. Removal or substantial alteration may be considered in unusual circumstances involving legal requirements, safety, privacy, or significant factual concerns.
