1. Lubbock ISD sets public town hall on district’s future

Lubbock ISD will discuss the district's condition and plans for local schools at a free town hall Tuesday, October 13, at 5:30 p.m. at the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center, 3201 Avenue Q. The district says visitors should enter through Door 1 and park on the Avenue Q side. 2. Federal judge imposes 230-month sentence after Lubbock-area chase

A federal judge sentenced Erik Louis Almaguer, 32, to 230 months in prison following his guilty pleas to methamphetamine trafficking and a related firearm charge. Federal officials say an October 2025 pursuit began in Lubbock and ended near Brownfield; officers recovered more than 300 grams of suspected methamphetamine and a loaded pistol. 3. Montelongo’s reopens for a soft opening

Montelongo’s Mexican Restaurant announced a soft reopening Friday, October 9, after closing in March, according to EverythingLubbock. 4. South Plains farmers test NASA-backed crop-data tools

The local Sandhill Area Research Association is working with NASA Acres to help farmers use satellite-based information in planting and crop management. 5. Angel Tree organizers seek community support for local children

The Lubbock Salvation Army says 215 families, representing about 500 children, have already signed up for its Angel Tree holiday assistance program.
