Texas Tech senior cornerback Brice Pollock was named Tuesday one of 15 semifinalists for the 2026 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award, presented each year to the nation's best defensive back. The Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame and Jim Thorpe Association announced the list.
Pollock's season
Pollock was named to the award's 35-player preseason watch list on Aug. 12. He was named the Thorpe Award National Defensive Back of the Week after intercepting two passes in Texas Tech's 29-7 win at Colorado on Oct. 3.
Through seven games, Pollock has two interceptions and six pass breakups. His eight passes defended are tied for 15th nationally among FBS players, according to Texas Tech Athletics. He also has 19 tackles, including 16 solo stops.
What's next
The semifinalists represent six conferences and one independent school. The award committee will select three finalists, to be announced on ESPN Nov. 24. The winner will be announced Dec. 11 on The Home Depot College Football Awards.
Pollock and the No. 13 Red Raiders host No. 22 Arizona on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Galaxy Stadium. ESPN will televise the game nationally, with radio on the Texas Tech Sports Network.
