Texas country music favorite Pat Green is bringing some of his best-known songs back to the place where Texas music history lives. His new live album, recorded in Luckenbach, arrives November 13.

For fans who grew up listening to “Wave on Wave,” “Carry On” and “Three Days,” the new release is a trip down memory lane.

Pat Green's Lubbock Roots

Before his national success, Pat Green attended Texas Tech University and played Lubbock bars while building a following. In 1995, he recorded his debut album, Dancehall Dreamer, in Lubbock with acclaimed Texas musician and producer Lloyd Maines. Green was also a familiar presence around the city's record and instrument stores, part of the local music community that helped shape his early career. For longtime Lubbock fans, his new Luckenbach live album recalls the years when Green's music first found an audience in West Texas.

The album, Live from the Center of the Known Universe: Luckenbach Texas, features 14 songs recorded at the legendary Luckenbach Dance Hall near Fredericksburg. Green recorded the project during two performances on November 7–8, 2025, returning to a venue that has long been part of his personal and musical history.

The album also pays tribute to the Texas singer-songwriter tradition made famous by Jerry Jeff Walker. Green revisits three songs featured on Walker's legendary 1973 album, ¡Viva Terlingua!: “Gettin' By,” “Sangria Wine” and “Redneck Mother.” Walker recorded that landmark album at Luckenbach, helping establish the tiny Hill Country community as one of the most recognizable places in Texas country music.

Familiar Songs, Familiar Friends

Green isn't going it alone. The recording brings together several familiar names from the Texas music scene.

Cory Morrow joins Green on “Songs About Texas,” Ray Wylie Hubbard appears on “Redneck Mother,” and Django Walker is featured on “Mr. Bojangles,” “Sangria Wine” and “Texas on My Mind.”

The collection includes longtime concert favorites such as “Take Me Out to a Dancehall,” “Southbound 35,” “Feels Just Like It Should” and “Wave on Wave.”

For longtime listeners, it's a chance to hear songs that helped define an era of Texas country music, this time captured live in one of the state's most celebrated dance halls.

A Special Place in Texas Music

Luckenbach is more than a recording location for Green. He married his wife, Kori, there in 2000, and the dance hall has been part of his performing career for decades.

Recording a full live album there connects Green's music with the tradition of artists who built their reputations through dance halls, college towns and independent Texas radio.

And for West Texas fans who remember those songs filling college bars, pickup trucks and dance halls, the album offers plenty of familiar music.
