One of Texas Tech's most familiar campus landmarks now has an official place in Texas history. The university's Administration Building has been designated a Registered Texas Historic Landmark, a recognition reserved for buildings with significant historical and architectural importance.
Texas Tech and the Lubbock County Historical Commission marked the designation at a historical marker celebration Friday, October 16. Constructed between 1924 and 1925, the Administration Building was the first and oldest structure on campus.
