Texas music favorite Robert Earl Keen is bringing a different kind of Christmas celebration to Lubbock this December. His I Will Survive… Christmas tour arrives at Buddy Holly Hall on Tuesday, December 15, blending holiday music, disco favorites and the storytelling songs that have made Keen a Texas music institution.
The show features Keen and his band, with special guest Drayton Farley. The concert is scheduled for 8 p.m. in the Helen DeVitt Jones Theater.
A Christmas Party With a Disco Twist
Keen's annual Christmas shows have become a holiday tradition for fans across Texas. This year's production takes a playful turn, borrowing its theme from the disco era.
The tour encourages fans to come dressed for the occasion. Bell-bottoms, leisure suits, platform shoes and other 1970s fashions are welcome.
The music will combine holiday favorites, disco hits and songs from Keen's extensive catalog, including his signature holiday tune, "Merry Christmas From the Family."
For longtime followers, the concert offers an opportunity to enjoy Keen's familiar storytelling and humor in a festive setting. For newcomers, it's a chance to experience one of Texas music's most recognizable performers.
A Texas Christmas Tradition
Keen has spent decades building a loyal following through his distinctive songwriting, live performances and songs such as "The Road Goes on Forever," "Gringo Honeymoon," and "Feelin' Good Again."
His Christmas shows have become a recurring part of his touring calendar for more than 15 years.
This year's holiday tour begins December 8 in Tulsa and includes stops across the Southwest before a run of Texas performances leading up to Christmas.
Lubbock is the first Texas stop on December 15, followed by Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth and San Antonio.
