Five men were arrested during “Trick or Trap,” a multi-agency operation in Lubbock aimed at people seeking to exploit children through online solicitation, the Lubbock Police Department said Wednesday, according to KCBD.

What police said

The operation took place Friday, Oct. 23. Police said it was organized in response to an increase in suspected predators in the Lubbock area, including cases in which children were targeted through social media and brought to Lubbock.

The LPD Special Operations Unit led the effort with the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office and the Collin County Sheriff's Office.

“Protecting children from exploitation remains a priority for the Lubbock Police Department,” the department said, adding that it remains committed to identifying offenders and holding them accountable.

Parents can report suspected online exploitation to Lubbock police or to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org.
