Local heating and air-conditioning contractors will team up with Lubbock ISD students Saturday to help homeowners prepare for colder weather at no charge. The 26th annual Heat the Town program pairs South Plains–Texas Air Conditioning Contractors Association professionals with students from the Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center.

Teams will visit qualifying homes to inspect heating and cooling equipment, make minor repairs and identify potential safety hazards. Students will work alongside experienced contractors, gaining hands-on training while helping elderly and low-income homeowners in the Lubbock area.
