More than two dozen people who died in Lubbock County this year without anyone to claim their remains will be remembered at a public memorial service Sunday.
The county announced that community members, faith leaders and advocates will gather for prayers, reflections and a reading of names. Pray Lubbock director Steve Doles organized the annual event to recognize the dignity of people whose lives might otherwise go publicly unremembered.
Date: Sunday, November 1, 2026
Time: 2 p.m.
Location: St. John Baptist Church, 1712 E. 29th St., Lubbock
County Judge Curtis Parrish said the service is an opportunity to remember each person's life and reaffirm the community's commitment to compassion and dignity. The October 28 county media advisory said more than two dozen unclaimed people had died in 2026.
