Lubbock County has recorded 25,388 early votes through Wednesday, October 21, according to figures emailed by Elections Administrator Troy Havard. Wednesday added 7,898 votes after 8,852 on Monday and 8,638 on Tuesday. That is approximately 12.41% of the county's 204,576 registered voters.

At the same point in the 2018 midterm election, the county recorded 25,350 votes, just 38 fewer than this year's count. In 2022, the three-day total was 16,785, or 8,603 fewer than in 2026. These are raw early-vote comparisons; they do not predict which candidates will win. After three days, the share of registered voters was about 14.40% in 2018, compared with 12.41% this year.

Early voting by day

  • Monday, Oct. 19: 8,852

  • Tuesday, Oct. 20: 8,638

  • Wednesday, Oct. 21: 7,898

  • Three-day total: 25,388

Data note: The figures above are from the county elections administrator's October 21 turnout email. An earlier Chronicle voting-history classification covered 17,493 records for the first two days, while the county's official first-two-day turnout count was 17,490. These are different data series and should not be combined. Election officials have also raised a discrepancy between the county report and a Secretary of State total; the explanation and scope remain pending. Do not interpret voting-history categories as ballots cast for a party or candidate.

Early voting continues through Friday, October 30. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Check polling places, hours and official election information at VoteLubbock.gov.
