Lubbock County voters cast 80,977 early votes before early voting closed Friday, already more than the 80,576 votes cast in the entire 2022 midterm, according to the Lubbock County Elections Office. Polls reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday at 36 Election Day vote centers and stay open until 7 p.m.
The early total is the highest for a midterm in the county's comparison figures, which date to 2006. It equals about 39.6% of the county's 204,576 registered voters, compared with about 37.7% during early voting in 2018 and about 30.3% in 2022.
Friday's 8,601 votes made the final day the third-busiest of the 12-day period, behind the first two days.
