Lubbock-Cooper voters will decide on November 3 whether to approve a higher school property tax rate.
The district is seeking a three-cent increase that would bring the rate to just under $1.20 per $100 of taxable value. Officials estimate the increase would raise nearly $4 million annually for teacher pay and basic operations. For an average district home, the estimated additional tax is about $65 annually. The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Proposition A, according to KCBD.
