A Lubbock County jury found former nurse Debra Fraher, 71, guilty Friday of reckless bodily injury to a disabled child following the death of a 4-month-old girl in 2023, according to KCBD. Prosecutors said Fraher failed to respond properly when the ventilator-dependent infant experienced a breathing emergency. The baby died eight days later. The defense disputed the cause of death and questioned the evidence about the ventilator alarms. Fraher faces up to 20 years in prison; sentencing before Judge Douglas Freitag is pending.
