Lubbock’s share of a proposed regional water pipeline is estimated at $414 million. The project, known as CRMWA II, would bring more groundwater from Roberts County and could raise Lubbock’s daily water capacity from more than 71 million gallons to more than 103 million, according to The Lubbock Report. The estimate excludes the separate Lake 7 project. Officials did not estimate the impact on household water bills.
The Canadian River Municipal Water Authority says its board voted unanimously in 2026 to move forward with plans for the new wellfield and pipeline, targeting 2038. Lubbock City Council considered the project agreement at its Sept. 22 meeting.
